A family workshop among the olive groves of Crete.
Wood with a working life behind it
Crete holds some of the oldest olive trees on earth — trees that have fed families for centuries. When a grove is pruned each winter, or when an ancient tree finally stops bearing fruit, that wood comes to our workshop.
Nothing is rushed. The wood dries naturally for up to two years before we touch it. Then each piece is cut, carved, sanded through five grits until it feels like silk, and finished with nothing more than Cretan olive oil — the same oil the tree once gave.
Because olive wood is so dense and its grain so wild, no two pieces can ever match. What you hold is the only one of its kind.
How a piece is made
Gather
Wood is collected from winter pruning and retired trees — never from felling.
Rest
Blocks dry naturally for up to two years so the wood settles and will never crack.
Carve
Each piece is shaped by hand from a single block — no joints, no glue.
Finish
Five grits of sanding, then a deep bath of food-safe Cretan olive oil.
